RS-422/485 Repeater

RD-48 is used to extend an existing RS-422/485 bus or as a converter between 

2-wire and 4-wire applications. According to the standard the RS-422/485 bus 

can support a total of 32 connected devices and a transmission range of up to 

1200 metres (4000 ft). Up to 8 repeaters can be used in series to extend the range

or the number of connected devices. Each repeater allows a further 1200 metres

(4000 ft) range and an additional 31 connected devices. RD-48 supports data rates

up to 1.5 Mbit/s. The RD-48 provides total galvanic isolation, so it can also be used

as an isolator to protect equipment e.g. a PLC. RD-48 is intended for mounting on a

35 mm DIN-rail, where the modem is attached and locked in a single action.
