The rdc232ih allows quick, safe, fool-proof local
access to your intelligent field device. No more
panels to open. No more cables to trace or
disconnect. No more cable trunks to pry open. No
more spikes, surges, or ground faults to damage
the communication port of your notebook computer
or your intelligent field device.
If your panel has a floating, isolated, or filtered
ground ... if you have UPS power ... if you are
mixing 110 and 230 volts in your project, then this
RS-232 isolation is ultra critical anyway. Your
customer's (& competitor's) technicians may plug
their note-book computers into the normal wall-
mounted mains supply. So besides the fool-proof
access provided by the 232ih, it's isolation will
prevent linking your panel ground to the mains
ground through your delicate RS-232 port!
All three ports have 2.5kV optical isolation, plus 3
isolated DC supplies provides full 4-port galvanic
isolation. The rdc232ih is fully solid-state for long
life. The rdc232ih works with any 5-wire RS-232
devices isolating and switching Tx/Rx and
providing floating signal ground for each RS-232.
