PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
Recommended Migration for CISCO3640A, CISCO3640A-DC, and CISCO3640A-RPS
The recommended replacements for the Cisco 3640A are the Cisco 3725 and the Cisco 3745 Series routers. The Cisco 3725 and Cisco 3745
Multiservice Access Routers are based on the same modular concepts as the Cisco 3600 Series, but enable dramatically higher levels of performance
and application integration in enterprise branch offices. The Cisco 3725 and Cisco 3745 Series provide support for the full range of LAN and WAN
media connectivity options available on the Cisco 3640A.
In particular, the Cisco 3700 platforms offer a compelling solution price. The value pricing is apparent when comparing a Cisco 3640A Chassis,
with a combination LAN/WAN network module and comparable memory with that offered on the Cisco 3700 platforms. With onboard LAN/WAN
connectivity, new high-density service modules, and support for multiple Advanced Integration Modules (AIMs), the Cisco 3700 delivers new levels
of branch office service density and performance in a compact form factor.
Information about the 3700 Series routers can be found at:

Table 9 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco 3640A to the 3725 and 3745 Series Routers.
