Light Metering Mode
The camcorder measures light in the scene in order to set the optimal exposure settings. Depending on the 
scene, you may want to change the measurement method. This function is available when the shooting mode is 
set to “, ‚, or ’.
1 Touch [FUNC.] and then touch ¬ [Metering Mode] (in 
 mode) or ª [Metering Mode] (in 
 
mode).
2 Select the desired option and then touch [X].

Operating modes:
[¬ Standard]:
Averages the light metered from the entire screen, giving more weight to the subject in the center.
[
 Spotlight]:
Use this option when recording a scene in which only a certain part of the picture is lit, for example, 
when the subject is lit by a spotlight.
[
 Backlight]:
Suitable when recording backlit scenes.
[ª Evaluative]:
Appropriate for standard shooting conditions.
[¬ Center-weighted
   Average]:
The camcorder suitably exposes a subject at the center of the scene.
[« Spot]: 
The camcorder suitably exposes a subject at the center of the scene but within a narrower 
area.
