VINVOX Retriever User Guide
Introduction
This manual provides instructions and information necessary to install the VINVOX Retriever. The
VINVOX Retriever is mounted under the dashboard of the vehicle and plugs into a vehicle’s OBDII (On-Board
Diagnostics II) port.
Note: The VINVOX Retriever only functions on CAN protocol enabled vehicles equipped with a compatible OBDII
port.
Components
The VINVOX Retriever installation kit comes with all of the components listed below.

The VINVOX Retriever installation kit comes with all of the components listed below.
• Retriever base unit
• A Retriever OBDII cable with either a left or a right cable configuration
• Velcro® tape
• Tie wraps
• A Retriever OBDII cable with either a left or a right cable configuration
• Velcro® tape
• Tie wraps
Tools and Materials Needed
The VINVOX Retriever is designed to be installed without the use of specialized tools. All mounting hardware is
included.
Note: Although the Retriever is designed to be installed using a minimal effort, certain vehicles may require the
removal and reinstallation of interior parts or panels when routing the Retriever cable.
Planning the Installation
The Retriever is designed as a plug and play device. All power requirements for the unit are supplied through the
OBDII port.
Note: The initialization sequence of the Retriever will only be performed after the owner of the vehicle has
completed the opt-in process at the dealership.
