first 2.5-inch 7.2K rpm SAS and SATA Midline (MDL)
drives to provide you with high-capacity solutions
that can meet your external storage requirements.
These drives – which you may know in the industry
as ‘capacity optimized’ or ‘nearline’ – have been
designed to provide economic reliability and
performance for external storage, backups and
first 2.5-inch 7.2K rpm SAS and SATA Midline (MDL)
drives to provide you with high-capacity solutions
that can meet your external storage requirements.
These drives – which you may know in the industry
as ‘capacity optimized’ or ‘nearline’ – have been
designed to provide economic reliability and
performance for external storage, backups and
archival applications. With approximately two times
the reliability of Entry drives and high capacity up
to 500 GB for 2.5-inch drives and 1 TB for 3.5-inch
drives, the Midline drives provide extremely low
price per gigabyte to customers for bulk storage
solutions. They offer an excellent price advantage
for non-mission-critical applications with low I/O
workloads of 40 per cent or less.

including tolerance for HBA failure, cable failure
and expander failure. This is our first Midline drive
that comes with 6Gb/s SAS interface. 6Gb/s
SAS systems allow you to break through the I/O
bottlenecks of the past, delivering double the data
transfer rates of traditional 3Gb/s SAS systems,
increased system bandwidth and scalability for
multi-device environments.
