VoltAware™ Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Tester
Instruction Sheet
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Read and understand all of the instructions and safety information in these operating instructions before
using this tester.

WARNINGS
To avoid possible electric shock, personal injury or death follow these guidelines:
•  Do not use if green light is not illuminating on tester.
•  Do not use if tester appears damaged or is not operating properly.
•  Do not use tester for more than the rated voltage on the tester.
•  Do not use without the tester fully assembled.
•  This tester will not detect the presence of DC voltage.
•  This tester will not detect voltages at a distance, such as through walls, metal conduit, or shielded wire.
•  Voltage detection maybe affected by outlet design, insulation thickness/type.
•  Do not assume that no voltage indication means the circuit is de-energized.
•  Voltages below 50VAC will not be detected by the 61-025EU but are still shock hazards that can result
  in injury or death.
•  Use the 3 Point Safety Method. (1) Verify tester operation by measuring a known voltage. (2) Apply tester to circuit under test. (3) Return to the known live voltage again to ensure
  proper operation.
•  Ensure all fingers are behind finger guard when testing for voltage.
•  Replace batteries as soon as low battery is indicated.
•  If this tester is used in a manner not specified by IDEAL, protection provided by the product may be impaired.
•  Comply with local and national safety requirements, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Features:
The VoltAware™ NCV tester is useful for identifying hot conductors, finding breaks in wires and detecting the presence of AC voltage at outlets, switches, electrical panels, wires and cables.
•  61-025EU model indicates presence of voltage from 50-1000VAC
•  Visual indication of voltage
•  Selectable Audible indication of voltage
•  Low Battery Indicator
•  Sleek, compact design
Operation:
•  Twist the tester body to the On position.
•  Verify the green light is on.
•  Verify tester operation on a known voltage source.
•  Place the tip of the tester near an AC voltage source to obtain a voltage indication.
•  Voltage presence is indicated by a red, flashing light.
Selectable On/Off for Audible Beeper:
•  The tester defaults to the audible ON mode.
•  To turn the audible Off, depress the dark gray button.
•  To turn the audible back On, depress the button again.
Low Battery Indicator:
•  When the battery voltage drops below 2V, the tester indicates the low battery condition by turning off the green light.
Battery Replacement:
•  With the tester in the Off position, pull lightly on the two case halves. The tester should separate slightly.
•  Then, with little force, twist the two halves away from each other slightly as in the figure. Then, pull the two case
halves apart. Replace with 2 AAA (LR03) batteries.
•  Reverse process to re-assemble tester.
Maintenance:
Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. If the tester acts erratically, or the green light is not on, change the batteries.
Service and Replacement Parts:
There are no user-serviceable parts. To inquire about service information, contact IDEAL INDUSTRIES (U.K.) Ltd. at
+44-(0)1925-444446, or visit our website at www.idealindustries.co.uk.
Dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human health and utilize
natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return unserviceable product to relevant facilities
in accordance with statutory regulations. The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be
disposed separately and not as municipal waste.
Disposal of used batteries/accumulators!
The user is legally obliged to return used batteries and accumulators. Disposing used batteries in the household waste is
prohibited! Batteries/accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin. The symbol indicates that the product is forbidden to be
disposed via the domestic refuse. The chemical symbols for the respective hazardous substances are Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can return used batteries/accumulators free of charge to any collecting point of your local authority, our stores, or where batteries/accumulators are sold. Consequently you
comply with your legal obligations and contribute to environmental protection.
