c) Spiralling
Spiralling is initiated with the fin unit; the model angles to the side. If the model has reached the desired declination,
the rudder is put back into centre position. Now, the curve can be flown at a constant altitude by gently pulling the
elevator control stick.
When the model flies in the desired direction, a quick regulation of the rudder into the opposite direction will bring the
model back to a horizontal position and also return the elevator to the centre position.
If the model starts to sink in the curve, you did not pull the elevator control stick strongly enough. If the model starts to
rise in the curve, you pulled the elevator control stick too strongly.
If the curve is very generous, the fin rudder was not deflected enough or long enough. If the curve is very tight and the
model is extremely slanted, the fin rudder was operated too long or too strongly.
Warning!
When flying always ensure a sufficient flying speed. By pulling too much on the elevator rudder joystick,
the model will become too slow and tilt forwards over the tip or laterally over one wing.
Therefore, ensure at the beginning a sufficient safety height in order to allow yourself to get used to the steering
attitude of the model. Do not try to fly too far in order to be able to clearly evaluate, at any time, the flight attitude.
d) Trimming the Model
If in straight flight your model shows the tendency to drift to one direction, correct the neutral position of the corresponding
rudder via the trimming.
Rudder:
If the model drifts towards the left, push the trim lever (see figure 2, Pos. 3) step by step towards the right until the
model flies in a straight line. If the model drifts towards the right, effect a trim correction towards the left.
Elevator:
Set the trim lever for the elevator (see figure 2, Pos. 1) in such a way that at full motor speed the model rises in a flat
angle and that at reduced motor speed it flies at a constant altitude.
