Universal Remote Control
With the purchase of your Rear Projection TV you also have received the latest innovation in remote control
technology. With its easy-to-use push button keyboard, your remote can control your Rear Projection TV and
most infrared remote controlled VCRs, DVD players, cable TV converters and DTV STB as well.
Note
• Depending on the model, year produced, brand and type of VCR/DVD player, some models may not be compatible
with the remote control.
• Some brands of Cable TV converter Box may not enable channel selection until
ENT.
 is pressed.
Using your Remote control with a DTV STB (Decoder)
After installing the batteries, press DTV STB. (If you can change the channel of the DTV STB (Decoder) by
pressing
 or
on the remote control, the unit is in the DTV mode.)
Using Your Remote With Your Rear Projection TV
After installing the batteries, set the DTV STB-TV-CATV on the remote to the TV position. (If you can change
the channel of the TV by pressing
 or
on the Remote Control, the unit is in the TV position.)
“Identifying” Remote VCR/DVD player, Cable TV Converters and DTV STB
Your remote control has been set at the factory to operate your Rear Projection TV and many remote controlled
VCRs, DVD players, Cable Converters and DTV STB. However, in some cases an easy one-time set-up step
may be necessary before the remote will operate VCRs, DVD players, Cable Converters and DTV STB.
• In this set-up step, the remote locates and memorizes the remote control transmitter code for the VCR, DVD
player, Cable Converter or DTV STB.
• Once “identified”, the remote sends the proper remote signals to operate your equipment.
• This identification step will not have to be repeated until power to the remote is interrupted, e.g. due to
battery replacement.
USING YOUR REMOTE CONTROL WITH A VCR OR DVD PLAYER
Once you make certain the remote control has “identified” your remote controlled VCR or DVD player, the
remote control is ready to operate your equipment. The various VCR/DVD function buttons on the remote
control will not operate your VCR/DVD player unless those features are available on the VCR/DVD player.
• All VCR/DVD buttons will operate whether the remote control is in the TV or CATV modes.
• For detailed information on the use of the VCR or DVD player, refer to the operation manual of the VCR or
DVD player.
