1. Remove all adapters installed in the system unit. Keep a record of the adapter

placement for later reinstallation.

2. Remove the disk drive bracket assembly from the system unit and carefully place

it on top of the power supply.

3. Remove the riser card.

4. Unplug the system board SCSI cable from the drives in bays 3, 4, and 5 that you

want to attach to the Ultra SCSI adapter. (If you have not yet installed the Ultra
SCSI devices you want to connect to the Ultra SCSI adapter, go to “Installing or
Removing Internal Drives” on page 4-88, install the drives, then return here.)

5. Since the Ultra SCSI adapter is installed in slot 1 or slot 2, place the end of the

Ultra SCSI cable that attaches to the adapter on the lefthand side of the system
unit. Run the cable along the rear of the system unit toward the righthand side.

6. Replace the riser card. The Ultra SCSI cable should lie between the riser card

and the back of the system unit.

7. Using the next connector closest to the end of the cable which plugs into the

Ultra SCSI adapter, connect the Ultra SCSI cable first to the drive in bay 3 (if you
plan to connect this drive to the Ultra SCSI adapter), then to the drive in bay 5
(again, if you plan to connect this drive to the Ultra SCSI adapter), and finally to
the drive in bay 4 (if you plan to connect this drive to the Ultra SCSI adapter).

Note:  The last drive in the Ultra SCSI chain must be configured to be

self-terminating. See your device documentation for instructions on
making the drive self-terminating.

8. Reinstall the disk drive bracket assembly.

9. Install the SCSI adapter and connect the cable to the adapter.
