Accessories designed by other manufacturers have not been tested by Invacare and are not recommended for use with Invacare products.2After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching hardware is tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage may result.2The 84-inch Bed Extension Kit DOES NOT change the weight limitation of your bed. Refer to your owner's manual for correct weight limitation.22 Usage2Intended Use:2For conversion of a 80-inch Split Spring Mattress Platform to an 84-inch Mattress Platform.22.1 Disassembly2C21. From the foot end (D), push the drive shaft (A) towards the head end (B) to compress the drive shaft and disengage it from the gear boxes (C) at the foot end and head end of the bed.2E22. Disconnect head spring pull tube (E) by removing cotter (F) and clevis pins (G).23. Separate link fabric by raising the head end and disengage the open end hooks that secure the head and foot springs together.3H34. From the head end (H), lift up on the bed frame (I) and disengage the rivets (J) on the corner plates out of the corner locks (K) of the head end of bed.35. From the foot end (L), lift up on the bed frame (I) and disengage the rivets (J) on the corner plates out of the corner locks (K) of the foot end of bed.36. Lay bed on side and rotate head and foot spring sections to a 90° angle.3i3This will allow you to disengage head spring from foot spring.32.2 Attach the Four Inch Extension3A31. Attach four-inch extension (A) to the right and left hand sides of the foot spring frame (B) using 5/16-18 x 1 inch bolt and bi-way locknut. Securely tighten.32. Reassemble foot spring to head spring.3C3i3When performing STEP 3, make sure the open-end hooks are positioned down towards the ground/floor.33. Attach the six open-end hooks (C) of the link fabric extension (D) to the existing link fabric of the foot spring (E).34. Attach one helical spring (F) to one end of the link fabric extension (D).35. Attach the opposite end of the helical spring (F) to one of the four mounting holes in the four-inch extension (A).3D46. Attach second helical spring (F) to the mounting hole (H) into the four inch extension (A) on other side of bed frame.47. Using vise grips (I), secure the helical spring (F) to the link fabric extension (D).4D48. To connect the link fabric extension (D) to the head spring (J), manually raise the head spring and attach open-end hooks (C) to the head spring.4i4Make sure open end of hooks (C) are positioned down towards the ground/floor.49. Attach bed ends to head and foot spring assemblies.4K410. Using the existing drive shaft (K), slide the bed extender sub-assembly (L) on either end and attach drive shaft to head and foot boards.4M511. Remove existing pull tube (M) in head motor assembly or head crank assembly512. Install pull tube furnished with this kit in the following manner:5• For beds equipped with AC motors, use the first spring button (N)5• For beds equipped with DC motors, use the second spring button (O).5E513.
