OCP Error Messages

SYSTEM NOT READY

A problem was detected during printer 

start-up.

Power cycle the printer, and retry.

SYSTEM ERROR

Internal logic error.

Power cycle the printer, and retry.

FW UPGRADE ERROR

Firmware upgrade incompatibility.

Verify the version, and retry installing the 
firmware.

DIAGNOSTIC ERROR

Error encountered in Diagnostic Mode.

Power cycle the printer, and retry.

FW UPGRADE ERROR

Firmware upgrade failed.

Verify the version, and retry installing the 
firmware.

CRITICAL ERROR 
SHUTTING DOWN

Major malfunction encountered.

Contact Zebra Technical Support.

3001

PRINTER OFFLINE

Status toggled (offline/online) via the OCP 

Advanced Settings Menu.

Change status to online via the OCP 

Advanced Settings Menu.

OUT OF CARDS

• The Feeder Cartridge is empty.
• Card is stuck in Feeder Cartridge.

a. Load cards in the Feeder Cartridge.

b. Re-seat the Feeder Cartridge.

4002

INVALID CARD TYPE

Encoding error.

a. Ensure that you are using the correct 

card type.

b. In the Encoding tab of the driver 

Printing Preferences, check that the 
settings are correct for the cards you 
are using.

c. Ensure that the data conforms to 

ISO Specifications.

d. Retry writing and reading.

CARD JAM

Card is jammed in the Printer

Clear the card path.

OUT OF FILM

The transfer film has run out.

Load new roll of transfer film.

4011

INVALID FILM

Transfer film does not match the printer.

a. Verify the part number of the transfer 

film is correct on OCP.

b. Power cycle the printer.

FILM JAM 

The transfer film is jammed.

a. Check the transfer film.

b. Reinstall the transfer film.

c. Repair the break in the transfer film 

and reinstall.

4013

FILM MOTION ERROR

Transfer film not correctly responding to 
motion commands.

a. Check the transfer film.

b. Reinstall the transfer film.

c. Power cycle the printer.

4014

CARD FEED ERROR

Card is jammed in Feeder Cartridge.

a. Clear card jam in Feeder Cartridge, 

and re-seat Feeder Cartridge.

b. Ensure that cards are not stuck 

together and that they are the correct 
thickness (10 to 50 mil).

4015

CARD NOT INSERTED

Card was not fed into the Single Card 
Feed Slot within 30-second period.

Retry and feed card into the Single Card 
Feed Slot, or cancel the operation.

4016

OUT OF CARDS

• The Feeder Cartridge is empty.
• Card is stuck in Feeder Cartridge.

a. Load cards in the Feeder Cartridge.

b. Re-seat the Feeder Cartridge.

INVALID FILM

Transfer film does not match the printer.

a. Verify the part number of the transfer 

film is correct on OCP.

b. Power cycle the printer.

OUT OF RIBBON

Print ribbon has run out.

Load a new roll of print ribbon.
