NETWORKING
Networking of systems is required when any of the following conditions apply:
Two or more individual systems need to share video and control features. The CM9700-NW1 network interface unit (NIU) allows you to link
any combination of the following systems into a network:
One or more System 9740 or 9760 systems (note that the CM9740-CC1/CM9760-CC1 must be upgraded to software version
level 9.02)
One or more System 9780 systems
More than 2,048 cameras are required.
More than 256 monitors are needed for the system (without full cross-point).
Alarms and cameras connected to remotely-located systems need to be accessed.
The CM9700-NW1 network interface unit allows you to combine your systems into a network. Up to 24 nodes can be connected to a
CM9700-NW1.
The NIU offers the following features:
Each system maintains local operations (local camera switching, control, etc.) if the NIU goes off-line.
A system can be remotely located as far as the transmission type and path allows (typically hard-wired with 24 AWG twisted pair up to a
maximum of 4,000 feet/1,219 m).
Information on each node connected to the network (for example, cameras and monitors attached) is automatically downloaded to the NIU.
Operators can be allocated/restricted access to most features/equipment throughout the network.
Alarm signals can be transferred between nodes.
Refer to the System 9760/9780 Networking Guide for detailed instructions on networking your system. Note that the information in the
networking guide is applicable to both the System 9760 and the System 9780, except for the instructions in the Network Setup section, which
apply to the old CM9760-MGR software. For instructions on programming a system controlled by a CM9700-NW1, refer to the CM9700-MGR
Software Guide (provided in the System 9780 binder).

NOTE:  When using CM9760-MDA units, you can increase the monitor output capacity of a non-networked system to a maximum of 512.
