5.  Set suid bit to pppd chmod u+s /usr/sbin/pppd (/usr/bin/pppd 

depending on the location of pppd) 

6.  Assign users to the uucp group 

a.  /usr/sbin/usermod -G {existing groups for user1},uucp user1 

b.  /usr/sbin/usermod -G {existing groups for user2},uucp user2, etc. 

7.  When logged in as the normal user, update PATH for access to pppd 

and chat export PATH=$PATH:/usr/sbin (/usr/bin depending on the 
location of pppd)
