Connecting Your Local Network
3-3
Once the Netopia ISDN Router is properly configured and connected
to your LAN, PC and Macintosh computers that have their required
components in place will be able to connect to the Internet or other
remote IP networks.
Connecting to a LocalTalk network—for 400 series models
Connect one end of the LocalTalk cable to the Netopia ISDN
Router’s LocalTalk por t. Connect the other end of the cable to your
LocalTalk network.
If your LocalTalk network is not based on standard PhoneNET
cabling, use the PhoneNET-to-LocalTalk adaptor cable provided.
Connect the adaptor cable’s RJ-11 connector to the Netopia ISDN
Router. Connect the cable’s mini-DIN-3 connector to your LocalTalk
network.
The LocalTalk por t is terminated, so the Netopia ISDN Router
should only be used at the end of your LocalTalk network. Be sure to
obser ve standard LocalTalk rules governing maximum cable lengths
and limits on the number of AppleTalk hosts.
Note: Make sure you
do not connect your LocalTalk network to
either the ISDN por t or one of the EtherWave por ts.
