AppleTalk Setup
6-7
Obser ve LocalTalk Net Number. This value is the LocalTalk
network number. You may type in a new net number, or leave
the value as it originally appears.
Note: Whenever you have two or more AppleTalk networks
connected by routers such as the Netopia ISDN Router, the
combined networks are called an AppleTalk internet.
In an AppleTalk internet, each network is identified by one or
more network numbers. Routers assign these network numbers
to each network they ser ve.
If the Netopia ISDN Router connects two physical networks
together, they remain two distinct networks, using different
network numbers, or sets of contiguous network numbers. The
Netopia Internet Router determines which information to
re-transmit based on the destination address stored in the
information packets.
Note: Small Office users are limited to one AppleTalk zone and
a single net-range value for their EtherTalk cable.
Select AURP Partner Address or Name and enter the AURP
par tner’s IP address or domain name. If you do not know the
remote network’s IP address, enter its domain name. Domain
names are the Internet addresses favored by people (for
example: twain.gov, chagall.ar ts.edu, etc.). Domain names are
matched to the IP addresses actually used by the router (for
example: 163.7.8.202).
Once you enter the IP address or domain name of the remote
AppleTalk network that you would like to connect to, an
additional field appears. To initiate a connection with an AURP
par tner, select Initiate Connection and toggle it to Yes.
Note: Small Office users can only create one AURP par tner.
