The form message header is the first three text characters of a form. The form message header is a

First Character
The first character of the form identifies the specific form and may be any character of the ASCII
printable subset 20 through 7E.

Exception:
You cannot send the less than < symbol (ASCII 3C) as the first form character.

Second Character
The second character of a form determines the type of input device that the operator can use to
enter data on a form.

Since the second character of the form label is bit encoded, there are other letters which have the
same effect. There is no reason to use anything other than A, B, C, or D. Refer to Appendix D,
