M: Set RcvSeqNumbers Parameter to No
Expanded Function M is a message that causes the DOS terminal to ignore host-generated
sequence numbers.
See “Sequence Numbers (SEQ #)” in Chapter 4, “Messages”, for more information.
Rule:  Send a sequence number with this message. Presumably, the DOS
terminal has the RcvSeqNumbers parameter set to yes and it is
expecting a sequence number. Any subsequent messages that you send
should not contain sequence numbers.
What Happens
Expanded Function M sets the RcvSeqNumbers parameter in the DOS terminal to no. When you
set this parameter to no, the DOS terminal does not expect to receive sequence numbers from the
host computer.
Attributes
No beeps
No change in automatic transmit buffer length
Example

Y

an expanded function.

M
is the N/EF character that sets the
RecSeqNumbers parameter to no.

Figure 5-15  Expanded Function M Forced Message
Always use 0, as it is effective even if the terminal emulator just got sequence #1. If the terminal
had just received #1, an expanded function M message with 1 as the sequence number would be
rejected.
