Expanded Functions
LDS Plus Reference Guide

O: Set the ReturnToWand Parameter to No
Expanded Function O is a message that prevents a connected barcode reading device from re-
engaging after a transmission.
Note:
The ReturnToWand parameter does not affect form messages. The use of a barcode
reading device is controlled by the form.
Application
There may be a situation where the operator must enter some data manually rather than through a
barcode scan.
You can use Expanded Function O to set the ReturnToWand parameter to no, which deactivates
the barcode reading device after a transmission.
What Happens
When a form is received at the DOS terminal, the barcode input state is set via the form header. At
that time the ReturnToWand parameter is checked to determine the barcode input state after
transmission. For example:
1.  ReturnToWand is set to Yes when Expanded Function N is sent to DOS terminal (see
Configuration Utility”, Emulation Menu parameter “ReturnToWand”).
2.  Send form to the DOS terminal.
3.  Scan barcode data and it is accepted.
4.  Send the form to the host.
5.  Scan barcode data and it is accepted.
6.  Send Expanded Function O to DOS terminal (ReturnToWand is No). RTW parameter
takes affect at next operation that specifies barcode input state, not at current terminal
state.
7.  Scan barcode data and it is accepted.
8.  Send form to host.
9.  Scan barcode data and it is accepted.
10.  Send form to DOS terminal (with barcode enabled).
11.  Scan barcode data and it is accepted.
12.  Send form to host.
13.  Scan barcode data and it is NOT accepted.
