Chapter 4    Setting Up RACs
Managing Remote Access Concentrators Using Annex Manager
If any of the values set for individual ports or channels using
other methods (
admin
,
na
, or Customized mode) are non-
consecutive, this field and the
Last Remote Address
 field are
blank.
If you change the
First Remote Address
 and click
Apply
, the IP
address you entered is assigned to the first port or channel of
the Annex you selected in the
Main
 window. Subsequent ports
or channels are then assigned IP addresses numbered
consecutively after the first address (if you enter 0.0.0.0, all IP
addresses in the range are assigned this value). For 5399
devices, IP addresses are assigned consecutively beginning
with the first channel of the first WAN Module and ending with
the last channel of the second WAN Module.
PPP Interface Protocol Box
The
 PPP Interface Protocol
box lists the control protocols for which the RAC
negotiates. You can select a single button or any combination of buttons:
atcp
 - the AppleTalk Control Protocol
ipcp
 - the Internet Protocol Control Protocol
ipxcp
 - the Internet Packet Exchange Control Protocol
Compression Box
If you want ccp compression for the selected RACs, select
ccp
. Otherwise
compression is turned off.
Multilink PPP (MMP) Box
Multisystem Multilink PPP (MMP) is a superset of Multilink PPP. It
allows MP links for a telco hunt group to terminate on multiple RACs.
The RACs are combined together in an MMP group to use all of the
incoming channels in the group, increasing the potential bandwidth of an
MP bundle. The RACs support MMP for incoming calls only.
MMP is available only on ISDN-based products: 6300, 5393, 5399, 8000.
