Managing Remote Access Concentrators Using Annex Manager
Chapter 4    Setting Up RACs
4-48
RADIUS Box
RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service) is a standardized
method of information exchange between a device that provides network
access to users (such as a Remote Access Server used for network dial-
up) and a device that contains authentication and profile information for
these users (such as BaySecure Access Control).
RADIUS provides a higher level of security than acp, and offers an
accounting feature to track security events.
You can set these RADIUS parameters:
RADIUS Secret
- enter any value. This serves as your RADIUS
code. Bay Networks recommends that you enter a value at least
16 characters long, is not guessable, and contains at least two
non- alphanumeric characters. If it is preceded by “0x” then the
RADIUS shared secret is interpreted as hexadecimal binary.
RADIUS Port
 - enter the number of the UDP port on which you
want RADIUS to listen. The default value is 1812.
Accounting
 - turn
On
 to activate RADIUS accounting. RADIUS
will then track security events. Turn
Off
 to deactivate
accounting.
Accounting Level - Basic
logs only basic security events.
Advanced logs all other events, such as those relating to Tunnel
Management and MP.
RADIUS Accounting Port
- enter the number of the UDP port on
which you want the RADIUS accounting server to listen. The
default value is 1812.
IP
This section describes the RAC implementation of Internet Protocol (IP)
routing and the Routing Information Protocol (RIP) for SLIP, PPP, and
Ethernet ports. It describes how to view and change IP addresses and
interface routing information for selected RACs.
