type - Display the Contents of a File
To display the contents of an ASCII file, use the
type
command. Before
displaying a file, you can enable the
more
function to display the file one screen at
a time.
To display a file, enter the following command:
type [-x]
<vol>
:
<file_name>
-x
is an optional argument to display the file in hexadecimal format. This
argument allows files containing unprintable information to be viewed.
vol
specifies the slot number of the volume containing the file.
file_name
is the name of the file you are displaying.
The file is displayed in the same format in which it is stored (unless you enter the
-x
argument). Use the
log
command to display a log file in ASCII format.
Examples
type 9:filea.txt
Displays the contents of the filea.txt file, which is stored on the
volume in slot 9.
volume in slot 9.
type -x 9:config
Displays the config file, which is stored on the volume in slot 9.
This file is displayed in hexadecimal format.
This file is displayed in hexadecimal format.
