By default, the Pad stays in RECORD mode after you have recorded
a Macro. This feature allows you to continue to create and assign
Macros to your DX1 Keys. To create each Macro, first type on your
regular keyboard then press a DX1 Key to which you want to assign
the Macro.
When you have finished recording Macros, you can exit RECORD
mode by pressing the REC button on your Pad (the Red Light will
turn off and the metronome sound will stop). After exiting RECORD
mode, your Macros are ready to use. Pressing the DX1 Key will play
back the Macro that you recorded in your program.
Record a Single Key Macro
To record a Single Key Macro, first make sure you are in RECORD
mode. Press the key you want to “clone” on your regular keyboard,
and then press a DX1 Key on your Pad. A Single Key Macro will be
created and assigned to that DX1 Key. Whenever you type only one
key in a record sequence, Ergodex Manager automatically creates a
Single Key Macro. No timing information is recorded for Single Key
Macros; you control the timing directly by pressing and releasing the
DX1 Key (just like a key on your regular keyboard).
Record a Multi Key Macro
To record a Multi Key Macro, first make sure you are in RECORD
mode. Type a sequence of two or more keys on your regular
keyboard, and then press a DX1 Key on your Pad. A Multi Key
Macro will automatically be created and assigned to that DX1 Key.
By default, Ergodex Manager records Multi Key Macros with timing;
the Macro you record will play keystrokes back at the same rate that
you originally typed them.
The Macro timing is often necessary for slow or complex programs,
where the computer needs time to process one command before
receiving the next command. It is also useful for many games,
where the time delay between key presses is important. You may
easily adjust or remove this timing from your recorded Macros using
Ergodex Manager.

Advanced Recording
If you would like to record your Multi Key Macros without timing, the
DX1 Input System offers some advanced features. First, you may
change the default record timing mode from the Menu in Ergodex
Manager. Click on “Edit > Record Macros with Timing” to toggle the
record timing mode.
If “Record Macros with Timing” is checked, Multi Key Macros will be
recorded with timing enabled. If it is unchecked Multi Key Macros
will be recorded without timing.
You can tell which RECORD mode you are using based on the
metronome “tic” sounds. Recording with timing has a slower “tic”
rate (once per second) while recording without timing has a faster
“tic” rate (twice per second).
Additionally, the DX1 Pad offers the ability to select which RECORD
mode (with or without timing) is used based on how you press the
record button. If you press the record button on your Pad normally,
Ergodex Manager will enter the RECORD mode that you have
specified with the ”Edit > Record Macros with Timing” option. If you
press and hold the record button for 3 seconds, the other record
mode will be used. Pressing the record button again while in either
RECORD mode will exit the RECORD mode.
