Figure 30: Remote Module – Modem Settings Configuration Screen
Modem Settings configuration may require changing from salue based on Line type,
Line conditions and specific connection requirements.
a)  Max Connect Rate – The Switch and Remote Module communicate by
transmitting signals between the switch location and the remote location over an
analog phone line. When set to Auto the first attempt at connecting will be at
21600 bps which provides the most stable voice environment. If required, the
connect rate can be set to 33.6Kbps, 31.2Kbps, 28.8Kbps, 26.4Kbps, 24Kbps,
21.6Kbps, 19.2Kbps and 16.8Kbps.  If having connection problems try a lower
rate than 21600 bps.
b)  Leased Line – An analog leased line is a telephone line type offered by the
telephone service provider (CO) and would be a dedicated line between the
Switch and Remote Module (not a “dialup” connection). A standard analog line is
the default setting.
c)  Pulse Dialing – An older type of analog line that was used with the rotary dialing
phone type. The default is Tone dialing.
d)  Init String – The Switch and Remote Module initialization string is based on the
standard modem AT Command set. Any AT commands can be added to comply
with any corporate standards or requirements.
