Upgrading the Boot File Through Command Lines
Follow the steps to upgrade the boot file:

Distributed device
1) Save the boot file to the root directory of the storage medium on the active SRPU using FTP, TFTP,
or other approaches.
2) Copy the boot file to the root directory of the storage medium on the standby SRPU.
3) Use commands to specify the boot file for the next boot of the active SRPU and standby SRPU
respectively.
4) Reboot the device to make the new boot file take effect.

Distributed IRF device
1) Save the boot file to the root directory of the storage medium of the active SRPU of the IRF (the
active SRPU of the master) using FTP, TFTP, or other approaches.
2) Copy the new boot file to the root directory of the storage medium of the other SRPUs in the IRF,
including the standby SRPU of the master, active SRPU of the slave, and standby SRPU of the
slave.
3) Use commands to specify the boot file for the next boot of all the SRPUs of the IRF.
4) Reboot the device to make the new boot file take effect.
When multiple Boot ROM files are available on the storage media, you can specify a file for the next
device boot by executing the following command. A main boot file is used to boot a device and a backup
boot file is used to boot a device only when a main boot file is unavailable.
