ƒ Use the Save MLM Database advanced utility to export the MLM database to a USB 
storage device and email the exported database to a pre-configured mail recipient. 
See Backing Up the MLM Database on page 64 for instructions.
Note:
The MLM database is also backed up by the Auto Configuration Save 
operation performed by the library. See Configuring Automatic Emailing 
of the Auto-Save Configuration File

ƒ Use the Save Library Configuration advanced utility to save the updated library 
configuration data to a USB storage device and email the updated library 
configuration data to a pre-configured mail recipient. See Backing Up Your Library 
Configuration

ƒ Use the BlueScale Export Key option to export encryption keys to a USB storage 
device and email them to a pre-configured mail recipient as soon as you create 
them. The exported keys are encrypted and password protected. See Exporting and 
Protecting Encryption Keys
 on page 108 f
or instructions.
ƒ The partition wizard prompts you to save the library configuration whenever you 
create or modify a partition. You can choose to save the updated library 
configuration data to a USB storage device or email it to a pre-configured mail 
recipient. Refer to the Spectra T120 User Guide for detailed information about 
creating and modifying partitions.

LTO Tape Drives
Updates to the LTO-4 Drive Firmware
After you update your library firmware to BlueScale10.4.0 or later, confirm that your 
LTO-4 drives are using the correct firmware version and update the firmware if 
necessary (see Updating the Drive Firmware on page 19).
ƒ Spectra Logic recommends using firmware version 8940 or later for IBM LTO-4 tape 
drives. 
ƒ Starting with BlueScale10.4.0, IBM LTO-4 tape drives require firmware version 8940 
or later when using the new MLM features. 
ƒ IBM LTO-4 drives must be running firmware version 8940 or later when using 
Netbackup 6.5.2 or later.
