Updating the Drive Firmware
Follow these steps to upgrade the drive firmware for any LTO-4 drives in
the library. Refer to the instructions provided with the firmware and on the
Spectra Logic Knowledgebase at

1. If you have not already done so, update the library firmware to
BlueScale10.4.0 or later. Refer to the Spectra T950 Library User Guide for

2. Using the BlueScale interface, select Configuration > Drives to view the
Drives screen. This screen shows the current firmware version for each
drive in the library.

4. If necessary, update the LTO-4 drive firmware to the latest firmware
version.

Important
Before upgrading drive firmware, make sure that your library is idle and that the
tape drive does not contain a tape (loaded or ejected). Attempting to update the
firmware while the library is busy or while a tape is in the tape drive will result in
the upgrade failing and may result in failed backup jobs.
