White Balance
White balance ensures that colors are unaffected by the color of the light source. In 
modes other than PSA, and M, white balance is set automatically by the camera. 
Auto white balance is recommended for most light sources in PSA, and M modes, but 
other values can be selected if necessary according to the type of source:
White balance is set by pressing 
the L (U) button and rotating 
the main command dial until the 
desired setting is displayed in the 
control panel.

results, use type G or D lens. If built-in or optional 
flash fires, results are adjusted for flash.

Sodium-vapor lamps

• Sodium-vapor lighting (found in sports venues).
Warm-white fluorescent

Cool-white fluorescent
4,200 K
• Cool-white fluorescent lights.
Day white fluorescent

• Daylight white fluorescent lights.

High temp. mercury-vapor

• High color temperature light sources (e.g. 
mercury-vapor lamps).
Direct sunlight

Use with subjects lit by direct sunlight.
Flash

Use with built-in or optional flash.
Cloudy
6,000 K
Use in daylight under overcast skies.
Shade

Use in daylight with subjects in the shade.
Choose color temp.

10,000 K
Choose color temperature from list of values 
(0 120).
Preset manual
Use subject, light source, or existing photograph as 
reference for white balance (0 121).
