Display
Viewfinder is out of focus
: Adjust viewfinder focus or use optional eyepiece correction lenses
Viewfinder is dark
: Insert a fully-charged battery (0 21, 35).
Displays turn off without warning
: Choose longer delays for Custom Setting c2 (Standby timer) or
c4 (Monitor off delay) (0 227, 228).
Control panel and viewfinder displays are unresponsive and dim
: The response times and brightness of
these displays vary with temperature.
Fine lines are visible around active focus point or display turns red when focus point is highlighted
: These
phenomena are normal for this type of viewfinder and do not indicate a malfunction.

If the Camera Stops Responding
In extremely rare instances, the displays may not respond as expected and the camera may
stop functioning. In most cases, this phenomenon is caused by a strong external static
charge. Turn the camera off, remove and replace the battery, taking care to avoid burns, and
turn the camera on again, or, if you are using an AC adapter (available separately), disconnect
and reconnect the adapter and turn the camera on again. If the problem persists, contact
your retailer or Nikon-authorized service representative.
