 M-Series Modular Servers (Figure 1) are designed to meet the high-performance demands of 

massively parallelized, predominantly single-threaded applications. The unique design of the Cisco UCS M-Series 

combines Cisco

®

 virtual interface card (VIC) technology and server fabric management with x86 computing 

elements in a dense, modular architecture that delivers uncompromising application performance. Cisco UCS 

M-Series servers are cost effective, scalable, and easy to manage. Unlike conventional x86 rack and blade 

servers, the Cisco UCS M-Series is a specialized platform targeted at applications that perform optimally across 

many smaller computing elements, such as cloud-scale computing, high-performance computing, online gaming, 

engineering design automation, data analytics, and risk modeling.
