Introduction
This document describes some of the reasons for Spam quarantine notifications.
Why am I getting multiple Spam quarantine notifications?
The Cisco Anti−Spam quarantine is configured to send out daily digests or notifications to each spam
recipient. The notifications contain a summary of all spam received, as well as a link to the Spam quarantine
which the notification recipient can use to view (or deliver or delete) the actual messages. Some users might
find that they receive multiple notifications. Also, some spam listed in the notification may be missing from
the Spam quarantine when the user follows the link to the quarantine.
Users receive multiple notifications if they are members of internal mailing lists or aliases. When spam is sent
to an alias, everyone on the alias receives the notification. People who receive spam to their personal address
and to (multiple) mail lists will; therefore, receive multiple quarantine notifications.
Why is there no spam in the Cisco Spam quarantine?
Missing spam is often a result of the fact that each alias recipient has equal rights to enter the Spam quarantine
and delete or release the messages. Consequently, alias recipients might find that another member of that
mailing list or alias has already logged in and deleted messages from the Spam quarantine.
