Q. What is ISE?
A. Cisco ISE helps IT professionals conquer enterprise mobility challenges and protect the evolving network
across the attack continuum. It provides you with an array of capabilities. It centralizes and unifies network
access policy management for consistent, highly secure access to end users, whether they connect to a
network over a wired, wireless, or VPN connection. It gives you greater visibility by providing accurate device
identification through the ISE profiling services. And it implements software-defined segmentation based on
enterprise roles through the use of Cisco TrustSec
®
technology embedded in the existing infrastructure. In
addition, ISE offers full lifecycle management for guest access and TACACS+ for device administration.
Q. Is the Cisco ISE Authorized Technology Partner (ATP) Program being retired? Why?
A. Yes. ISE offers a robust architecture, new features, and functionality that address not only current but also
future business challenges. ISE is a mainstream component of security offerings and integrated into Cisco
certifications and partner security sales enablement methodologies. Successful deployments of ISE have been
accomplished, and we are confident that partners with relevant certified personnel and specializations can
successfully support this technology with high customer satisfaction.
ATP Programs are used for emerging technologies that have unique complexities that require specialized
skills and knowledge. Given that ISE has a growing number of partners with ISE expertise, and taking into
account the software’s usability improvements and market maturity (with over 12,000 customers), ISE is no

Q. When did the ATP retirement take effect? What happened after that date?
A. Cisco retired the ISE ATP Program on February 2, 2016. No new applications are being processed.
Additionally, ISE products will not be on compliance hold, and ISE ATP Program requirements (training,
exams, etc.) will not be required.
