The auditQam Utility

The information in this section describes how to query, audit, and reset QAM, 

MQAM, and GQAM modulators. 

When troubleshooting a session issue, you may need to compare the session list in 

the DNCS with the session list for the QAM. You can use the –query option of the 

auditQam utility to create a report of the session list from a QAM. Then, you can 

compare this list to the actual session list in the DNCS. If the lists do not match, you 

can perform an audit to synchronize the session lists.  
Complete the following steps to query a QAM. 

 

1. 

 

If necessary, open an xterm window on the DNCS. 

2. 

 

Type auditQam  -query  [qam ip address]  [qam port number] and then 

press Enter. 
Result:  The system generates a session list for the QAM. 
Notes:   
• 

For QAMs, you can only query port number 2. 

• 

For MQAMs, you can query port number 1, 2, 3, or 4. 

• 

For GQAMs, you can query port numbers 1 through 16.

From the DNCS Administrative Console, select the Utilities tab.

Click Session List. 
Result:  The Monitor Session Filter window opens.

Ensure the Session Type and Session State fields are set to All, and click OK.  
Result:  The Session List window opens. 

6. 

 

Click QAM Name, Port, Frequency to sort by QAM name. Then, find the 

QAM name associated with the IP address you queried. 

7. 

 

Look at the port number you queried and compare the list of sessions from 

the QAM with the list of sessions on the DNCS.  

8. 

 

Do the session lists match? 
• 

If yes, perform additional troubleshooting tasks to determine the root cause 

of the issue. 

• 

If no, perform an audit to synchronize the two session lists. See the next 

section for more information on performing an audit from the command 

line.
