Introduction
MQAM software version 2.6.18 is designed to be installed on an MQAM. After the
software is installed and the modulator is active, it provides additional support for
sites that deploy video-on-demand (VOD), anything-on-demand (xOD), and other
interactive broadcast services.
Note: For a complete description of an MQAM, refer to the MQAM Modulator Models

This section includes the system release and application compatibility requirements,
application platform release dependencies, software requirements, and hardware
requirements for installing the MQAM software. This chapter also includes the CRs
implemented in this release.
What's New?
MQAM software version 2.6.18 provides support for the following new features:
Support for new RF boards now on MQAMs
Ability to process corrupt MPEG packets
Support for New RF Boards
We have recently transitioned to a new radio frequency (RF) board on our MQAMs.
MQAM software version 2.6.18 provides support for these new RF boards that are
now shipping on MQAMs. These RF boards provide system operators with an
enhanced performance upgrade to earlier MQAMs and also assist them with
bandwidth management in two key areas:
Bandwidth optimization: the ability to handle content more efficiently to expand
the capability of existing bandwidth
Bandwidth expansion: the ability to move to the next, most financially and
operationally practical bandwidth capacity level
The new MQAMs also give system operators access to the extra bandwidth needed
to expand their interactive service offerings to customers and to support the
increased demand for advanced interactive services and the growing deployment of
high-definition (HD) content along with the bundling of services to include the latest
voice, video and data technologies, i.e, the triple play.
