Lock Screen  
Choose a method for unlocking 
your screen. Different Screen 
Locks have different levels of 
security and options. 
Set a Screen Lock 
1.  From a Home screen, tap 
Apps > 
Settings 
My device tab > Lock screen
2.  Tap Screen lock to select a screen lock and 
level of security: 
• 
Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This 
option provides no security. 
• 
Face unlock: Look at your phone to unlock it. 
• 
Face and voice: Look at your phone and 
speak to unlock it. 
• 
Pattern: A screen unlock pattern is a tap 
gesture you create and use to unlock your 
device. This option provides medium security. 
• 
PIN: Select a PIN to use for unlocking the 
screen. This option provides medium to high 
security. 
• 
Password: Create a password for unlocking 
the screen. This option provides high security. 
• 
None: Never use a Lock screen. 
Screen Lock Options 
Swipe 
• 
Multiple widgets: Tap to enable multiple 
widgets on the lock screen. 
• 
Lock screen widgets: Customize widgets 
on the lock screen, such as clocks and a 
personal message. 
• 
Shortcuts: Select shortcuts to appear on the 
lock screen. 
• 
Unlock effect: Set the visual effect used when 
unlocking the screen. 
• 
Help text: Display help text on the lock
screen.  
• 
Wake up in lock screen: Use spoken wake-up 
commands when Swipe lock is enabled. 
• 
Set wake-up command: Configure up to four 
verbal wake-up commands. 
Face Unlock and Face and Voice 
• 
Lock screen widgets: Customize widgets 
on the lock screen, such as clocks and a 
personal message. 
• 
Improve facial recognition: Add more facial 
recognition captures to compensate for such 
variations as different lighting, wearing or not 
wearing glasses, and being clean-shaven or 
bearded. 
• 
Presence check: Tap to require blinking to 
confirm that a live person is trying to unlock 
the device. 
• 
Secured lock time: Set the time limit of 
inactivity before the screen lock takes effect.
