This manual provides condensed information 
about how to use your device. To make this 
possible, the following text conventions are 
used to represent often-used steps,

Arrows (➔) are used to represent the 
sequence of selecting successive options in 
longer, or repetitive, procedures. For example:

• 

From the Home screen, press Menu ➔ Settings 
➔ Calls.

This is a shorthand way of saying:

• 

From the Home screen, press the Menu (left 

select) key

• 

Press the Up/Down keys, highlight Settings, and 

then press the Select (left select) key 

or

.

• 

Press the down area of the Up/Down keys, 

highlight Calls, and then press the Select (left 

select) key or 

.

Activating Your Phone

Activating your phone requires several things: 
installing both the battery and SIM card into 
their corresponding internal compartments, 
charging the battery, and turning on the 
phone.

To install or remove the battery, you must first 
remove the back cover.

If necessary, power-off the phone. Press and 
hold 

 until the power-off image displays.

1. To remove the battery cover, press 

down (1) and slide the battery cover 

away (2).

Caution! Do not bend or twist the back cover 

excessively. Doing so may damage 
the cover.
