A number between 0 and 255.
Represents the default time-to-live (ttl) for locally generated IP
packets. This parameter determines the number of hop-counts the
IP packet may pass before it is dropped.
Generally the time-to-live is 64 hop-counts.

the network without ever reaching a destination is avoided.
