network searching: if you are out of coverage, to 
keep your phone from looking for networks, press 
and hold Power

display brightness: touch Menu

Dialer. To dial, say “Call” and then a contact name 
or phone number. You can also say a command from 
the list shown, like “

 to open voice 

search, or touch   on a search box, then say what 
you want to search for, like “Motorola accessories”.

: Touch a text entry field to open the 

touchscreen keyboard. Touch  , then say what you 
want to type.

There is no   on the 

Swype keyboard. To 

change the keyboard, touch and hold a blank spot in 

the text box. A menu opens, where you can choose 
Input Method > Multi-touch keyboard.

Speak naturally but clearly, like using a 

speakerphone.

When you want to hear who’s calling:

: Assign a unique ringtone to a contact— 

touch

Contacts, touch the contact, then 

touch Menu

Options.

To set your ringer volume or vibration, touch Menu

Settings > Sound > Vibrate or Volume.

To set separate volumes for calls and notifications 

(like new messages), choose 

Volume and uncheck Use 

incoming call volume for notifications.

To change display brightness, touch Menu

 > 

Settings > Display > Brightness

Uncheck 

Automatic brightness to set your own level.
