*  This switch position enables cable and conduc-

tor measurement at a desired wire cross sec-
tion:

" Perform the measurement as described in chap-

ter 6.2.

Result:
Cable length = displayed measurement value x (wire
cross section/mm x wire cross section/mm)

To allow measurement of customer specific cable
types reference ranges have been integrated in the
UNITEST Cable Length Meter 3000. 

" Switch on UNITEST Cable Length Meter using

the

key.

" Change to the reference range pressing

key, e.g. reference level 1. REF I is indicated on
the display.

" Perform the temperature compensation for the

UNITEST Cable Length Meter as described in
section 6.1. 

" Connect the red test leads to red sockets and the

black test leads to black sockets.

" Connect both conductor ends using the alliga-

tor clamps.

" Set the material (copper / aluminium) of the

cable or conductor to be measured. ''Cu'' or
''Al'' is indicated on the display, according to
previous selection.

" To set the measurement unit (m/ft) press

the

and

keys. ''m'' or ''ft'' is indi-

cated on the display. 

" Set measurement range selection dial to a free

memory location, e.g. switch position 1. 100.0
m is indicated on the display.

" Set the known length of the cable type to be mea-

sured using the

and

keys.

" Save the reference cable cross section pressing

and

keys. A simple signal sound is

audible.
