9. Operating the Model
a) Inserting and Connecting the Flight Battery
The flight battery is inserted into the fuselage after removal of the canopy and secured in the dome area above the servo for the retractable landing gear with
hook-and-loop tape.
The precise position of the rechargeable battery is determined by the centre of gravity.
b) Setting the Centre of Gravity
The flight battery (1) must be attached on the hook-and-loop take on
the wing dome so that the centre of gravity is approx. 60 mm (+/- 3mm)
behind the nose bar of the wing.
To do so, mark the corresponding centre of gravity position (3) at the
wing with a pen. Use your index fingers to hold the assembled and
ready-to-fly model from below at the measured positions.
If the centre of gravity is set correctly, the model should be leaning
slightly forward.
Important!
Always measure the centre of gravity with the cabin hood
in place and retracted landing gear.
For the first flights, please set the centre of gravity at approx. 55 to
57 mm. The best centre of gravity then can be reset slowly.
When you have determined the centre of gravity, mark the flight battery
and the fuselage using a black water-resistant felt pen (2). Thus, when
you change the flight battery, you do not have to determine the centre
of gravity again.
