e) The First Trip
The control electronics are programmed ex works for driving the model forward. When manoeuvring, observe
that you do not have a reverse gear as in a car model, for example.
Avoid hectic steering movements. Otherwise, the model may capsize and can no longer be controlled. If the model
cannot be recovered in time, ingressing water may also cause the model to sink.
Operation is only permissible with the hull deck applied. For this, the hull deck must be sealed at the body with a few
strips of transparent tape before each run. Otherwise, splash water and water from capsizing may enter the boat and
destroy the remote control and drive parts (or the boat sinks) in spite of the seal already applied. Loss of guarantee/
warranty!
The model’s speed controller has an undervoltage recognition for the drive battery integrated for safety-technical
reasons. If the battery switches off to prevent harmful deep discharge of the drive battery, the model would float, be no
longer controllable, and may be lost.
Therefore, interrupt operation in time (but no later than after 5 to 8 minutes, depending on the operating style and
battery used), to reach the shore under the model’s own power and to avoid deep discharge of the drive battery.
Trips under detriment conditions such as strong wind and strong waves are not permissible and may cause loss of the
model.
If you notice any unusual noise or sudden rotating or model speed loss during operation, terminate operation at once
and find the reason. In most cases, seaweed or something similar will have become tangled in the ship’s propeller,
which may impair or render the drive near ineffective. If operation is continued, this may destroy drive components.
Loss of guarantee/warranty!
Check the water cooling function before any voyage. For this, you may use a small hose to blow air into the water
cooling inlet (see figure 2, item 4). The air (or water in driving operation) must come out of the outlet installed at the
side in the boat’s body again.
Never drive with a water cooling that is clogged or non-functional because of bent hoses.
Also observe the rudder slots (figure 2, item 5). These slots are the water inlet of the water cooling. For the water
cooling system to work, it must be free of contamination at all times. The drive components may otherwise overheat
and be damaged. Loss of guarantee/warranty!
Carefully and horizontally put the model on the water. Ensure that the rudder system as well as the ship’s propeller has
no ground contact and can turn freely.
Carefully pull the throttle lever towards the handle. The model starts to drive forward. Turning the remote control
steering wheel to the left or right will cause your model to turn in the respective direction.
Driving time is approx. 5 to 8 minutes, depending on driving style. Terminate the trip in time and return to the shore.
Open the hull deck, unplug the drive battery, switch off the transmitter and check if any water has entered the model.
Ingressing water must be removed at once. Observe that the water does not enter the remote control or drive parts
during emptying.
Low water volumes entering (max. approx. 50 ml per trip) is normal; it must be emptied after every operation.
After a trip, the motor and speed control must cool off to ambience temperature. Therefore, make a break of
approx. 5 to 10 minutes before the next trip. The hull deck should remain disassembled for better cooling.
Practical advice:
If water ingression increases continually, the grease has usually been flushed from the drive shaft. In this
case, the shaft must be removed and re-lubricated. Observe the notes in chapter „Maintenance and Care“
for this.
