It is possible that you may not have sufficient rights under Windows 2000 to install drivers and software. If that is the case, contact your system
administrator. You need administrator rights to install new hardware and software.
If you are using Windows 2000 or XP as your operating system, you will see a message stating that the driver has not been digitally signed by
Microsoft. This is not a problem for the operation of the hardware. Click on Yes to continue.
The following screen appears. Select the code for your country and click on ‘Next’
Procedure for installing the 11G wireless PCI card hardware
Take the following precautions before installing the hardware:
1. Ensure the PC is switched off and is not connected to the power supply.
2. Also disconnect the printer and the monitor cable, because they have their own power supply, so that you are certain that there is no voltage
on the PC.
3. Then unscrew the computer case.
4. Once you have unscrewed the computer case, make sure you discharge any static electricity from yourself by touching a (bare) central
heating pipe or an unlagged water pipe. Take care not to use a magnetic screwdriver. Once again touch the metal frame of the PC case. Avoid
touching any contact points in the PC, PC card or memory.
5. Find a free PCI slot and remove the metal blanking plate inside the relevant slot in the computer case. It might be a little hard to insert the
card into the PCI slot. If this happens, do not use force but try a different free slot.
6. Once the card has been inserted successfully, check that all the other cards are still inserted in their PCI slots correctly. Sometimes when
inserting a PCI card, the other PCI cards are moved upwards causing the relevant card or even the entire PC to stop working.
7. Next replace the computer case cover and correctly reconnect all cables that were removed from the PC.
8. Connect the supplied aerial to the card.
9. Now switch the PC back on.
NB
Never use the wireless 11G PCI card without the aerial to prevent damage to the card.
Once your operating system has restarted, Windows will detect new hardware. If Windows asks for the software, click on ‘Cancel’ and follow the
installation procedure below.
