Overview of configuration tasks and documentation
PIM configuration task checklist
Use the following checklist when modifying the sync options for each
Lotus Notes PIM application.
!
Determine what you want Pylon to do with the PIM application.
With Mail, for example, if you sync frequently, you may need only
your unread Mail from the last seven days on your device. Or, you
may decide that you do not need to sync Mail, either permanently
or temporarily.
!
Open the Pylon Configuration database in Notes.
!
Enable or disable syncing of the PIM application.
!
Set the sync action for the PIM application.
!
Select the most appropriate filter for the PIM application,
depending on your mobile needs.
!
Modify one of the provided filters if necessary, in order to better
meet your specific mobile needs.
!
Tip:
If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Pylon, to avoid
any unwanted duplicate entries, set the sync Action on all
applications to Desktop overwrites handheld for your first sync.
!
Save and close the Pylon Configuration database.
!
Sync your device to test your new configuration and access your
Lotus Notes PIM applications on your device.
!
Tip:
If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Pylon, and do
not want to the sync Action for all your applications to be Desktop
overwrites handheld
:
- Reopen the Pylon Configuration database in Notes
- Set the permanent sync Action settings that you want for each
application
- Save and close the Pylon Configuration database.
Roadmap to Pylon configuration instructions
The instructions for performing each of the tasks above for each of the
different PIM application are very similar. You configure all of the PIM
applications from the same Lotus Notes screen. In the following
sections, you will find generic instructions for performing each of the
tasks listed above for any PIM application:
The generic instructions, beginning with “Accessing Pylon on your
desktop computer” (page 60),
take you all the way through the first
part of modifying a sync filter for an application.
Application-specific instructions for modifying a sync filter
complete this chapter, starting with “Making Mail-specific changes
to a sync filter” (page 81).
