■ Setting the zigzag width for start backtack stitches (additional DIP switch function)
    (Be sure to turn off the power before changing any of the DIP switch settings. Refer to page 171.)

Zigzag width for section A start
backtack stitches (3.0mm)

Zigzag width

When DIP switch 2-5 inside the control box is set to OFF,
the zigzag width for start backtack stitches can be set sepa-
rately from the normal zigzag width.
(You must set the end backtack zigzag width at this time
too. Be sure to make this setting if carrying out end
backtack sewing too.)

Turning the start backtack function on and off
Carry out the following settings after the thread has been trimmed (or after the treadle has been depressed backward
for the 855A-A0 [ ]).
•

The condition changes as shown below each time the start backtack key 

q is pressed.

•

Start backtacking is carried out when the start backtack indicator 

w is illuminated.

The zigzag width at the sewing start will change when the start backtack indicator 

w is turned on and off, and so

the needle bar will move at this time by the amount of the difference.

1. Press the start backtack key 

q.

• The indicator 

w will illuminate and the start

backtacking function will turn on.

• The AB indicator 

e will illuminate and the number

of start backtack stitches will appear in the LED dis-
play 

r.

2. To change the number of start backtack stitches, use

the 

쑶쑴 selection keys t to change the setting value.

3. Press the start backtack key 

q once more.

• The indicator 

w and the AB indicator e will re-

main illuminated, and the tack width indicator 

y

will also illuminate.

• The zigzag width for the start backtack stitches will

appear in the LED display 

r. (For example, 

AA AA

indicates widths of 3.0 mm for section A and 1.5
mm for section B and that start backtacking will be
carried out.)

4. Use the 

쑶쑴 selection keys t to change the zigzag

widths.

5. Start backtacking will be carried out when the treadle

is depressed.
