10-Watt Powerhorn with Handheld Microphone
Your RadioShack 10-Watt Powerhorn combines a high-efficiency
trumpet horn speaker, a powerful compact solid-state amplifier, and
a microphone with adjustable volume to provide crystal-clear sound.
The Powerhorn is ideal for sporting events, tour groups, campouts,
or anywhere you want to be heard.
Its features include:
Rustproof, Water-Resistant Plastic Housing — makes it ideal for
use in all weather conditions.
Lightweight Design with Shoulder Strap — make it easy to carry.
Detachable Microphone — so you don’t have to hold the entire
Powerhorn’s weight in your hand.
Microphone with Volume Control — lets you adjust the sound to
the desired level and save battery power.
Feedback Control — lets you adjust the amplifier’s volume to
eliminate feedback problems indoors.
Lock Bar — lets you set the Powerhorn so you can speak for a long
time without having to hold down the
TALK
 bar.
Built-In Siren — provides a loud alarm sound.
PREPARATION
Installing Batteries
Your Powerhorn requires eight C batteries (not supplied) for power.
For the best performance and longest life, we recommend
RadioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.
Do not mix old and new batteries (standard, alkaline, or
rechargeable) or rechargeable batteries of different capacities.
Follow these steps to install the batteries.
Note: Be sure
SIREN
on the left side of the Powerhorn’s handle is
set to
OFF
to prevent the alarm from sounding.
1. Lift the battery compartment cover’s latch and open the cover.
2. Lift out the two battery containers. Put four batteries in each
container, as indicated by the diagrams on the containers.
3. Replace the battery containers in the compartment with the
markings on the containers facing away from the handle.
4. Close the cover and secure the latch.
When the Powerhorn’s sound weakens, replace the batteries.
Warning:  Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not
burn or bury them.
Caution: If you do not plan to use the Powerhorn for several days,
remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy
electronic parts.
OPERATION
Using the Powerhorn with the Microphone Mounted
Follow these steps to mount the microphone on the rear of the
Powerhorn and operate the Powerhorn with just one hand.
1. Set
SIREN
on the left side of the handle to
OFF
.
2. Align the slot in the microphone’s back with the mounting
bracket on the battery compartment cover and slide the
microphone onto the bracket.
3. Ensure the
TALK
bar on the left side of the microphone is not
set to
LOCK
, since this disables the talk button on the
Powerhorn’s handle.
4. Firmly hold the Powerhorn and place the microphone about 5
inches from your mouth.
5. Press the talk button on the Powerhorn’s handle and speak into
the microphone. Release the talk button when you finish
speaking.
6. Rotate
VOLUME
on the right side of the microphone toward
10
 to
increase, or toward
0
 to decrease, the Powerhorn’s volume.
Note: If feedback occurs, decrease the volume or adjust the
FEEDBACK

CONTROL
(see “Using the Feedback Control” on
Page 2).
