CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine Express 2.15
PB452667
Product Overview
CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine (WLSE) Express is an integrated security and
management solution for managing up to 100 Cisco Aironet
®
standalone access points located in
one or multiple locations. CiscoWorks WLSE Express includes an integrated and embedded AAA
server, making it an ideal solution for remote branch-office deployments with limited WAN
bandwidth.
CiscoWorks WLSE Express provides comprehensive radio frequency (RF) and device-
management capabilities that simplify WLAN deployment, reduces operational complexity, and
provides administrators with expanded visibility into the WLAN. By automating several RF and
device-management tasks, CiscoWorks WLSE Express reduces the operating costs and time
needed for WLAN deployment, management, and security operations. This product bulletin
introduces the new features available with CiscoWorks WLSE Express Release 2.15.
Table 1 describes the new features available with CiscoWorks WLSE Express Release 2.15.

Description
SNMPv3 support
CiscoWorks WLSE Express now supports authNoPriv mode for Simple Network
Management Protocol Version 3 (SNMPv3) to communicate with Cisco Aironet access
points. All access points can be managed via either SNMPv2c or SNMPv3, but not both
simultaneously. SNMP Version 3 adds security and remote configuration capabilities to
the previous versions of SNMP.

the previous versions of SNMP.
Note: CiscoWorks WLSE Express will support multiple methods to populate SNMPv3
credentials. When importing devices from a file, you can provide SNMPv3 credentials in
comma-separated values (CSV) format. When importing devices from other CiscoWorks
platforms, CiscoWorks WLSE Express will retrieve SNMPv2c or SNMPv3 credentials as
defined in CiscoWorks. You can also manually populate SNMPv3 credentials for each
device range.

Ability to disable management of
switches

A network administrator can prevent CiscoWorks WLSE Express from contacting a set
of switches by adding the IP address(es) of the switches to a filter. Once entered,
