This section offers examples of some typical methods for connecting to the Internet. The connection 
method you should use depends on your ISP. For more information, contact your ISP.
• Connecting to a cable or DSL modem
Use a LAN cable (not supplied) to connect the LAN port on the base station to a cable or DSL modem. 
If your apartment building is equipped with Ethernet wall jacks, directly connect the base station to a 
wall jack.
Notes
• LAN cables come in two kinds: straight-wired and 
cross-wired. The type of cable you should use 
depends on what kind of cable modem or DSL 
modem you have. For more information, see the 
operating instructions for your modem.
• For more information on setting up the connection to 
your cable or DSL modem, see the operating 
instructions for your modem. If you are still unsure 
of how to connect your modem, contact your cable 
TV company, DSL network administrator, or ISP.

Labels such as ETHER, 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX, 
LAN, and ENET are used to identify the Ethernet 
port on a cable or DSL modem.
