Step 7: Attach cables
You can attach the printer to a LAN by:

Connecting the printer directly to the server using a
parallel or serial cable.

Your printer’s standard parallel port requires an
IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable. We recommend
Lexmark part number 1329605 (10 ft) or 1427498
(20 ft). If you installed an optional parallel port
adapter, you need a 1284 A–C parallel cable, such as
Lexmark part number 43H5171 (9.8 ft). If you use
something other than an IEEE-compliant cable, you
may not be able to access all of your printer’s func-
tions.
