Using On-Screen Menus
Time and Date
Your VCR can set the time and date in two ways; manually or by using the Auto Clock Set
(ACS) feature. ACS uses time and date information carried in certain broadcaster’s signals,
so it is only available in limited areas. If the ACS feature doesn’t work for any reason,
set the time and date information manually. This will automatically turn off the ACS feature.
Auto Clock Set Feature
ACS is set to ON by default at the factory. In the ON setting, the VCR looks for a channel
carrying time and date information and updates the clock automatically. In order for ACS to
work properly though, certain steps must first be completed such as setting channels, the
time zone, and the Daylight-Saving feature.
Notes: ACS is available only in limited areas. If ACS fails to get information, you will see a
prompt asking if you want to try again, or set the time and date manually. Setting time and
date information yourself automatically turns off the ACS feature.
You must first set the available channels, time zone, and Daylight-Saving settings for the ACS
feature to work.
When using the ACS feature with a cable box or satellite receiver, the VCR will not reset the
clock after a power outage unless the cable box is tuned to the channel carrying time data.
If the time does not automatically set after trying for ten minutes, manually set the time and
date information using the
TIME menu (see the next page for information on manually setting
time and date information).
