Basic operations
 • LOCK THE KEYPAD
Keyguard
Keyguard disables your keypad to prevent accidental key presses.
To lock the keys, at the start screen, select Menu, and press 
*
.
To unlock the keys, select Unlock, and press 
*
.
To answer a call when keyguard is active, select Answer or press the Talk key. 
 
If you are connected to a headset or loopset, press and hold the End key to end the call.
After you end the call, keyguard automatically becomes active again. 
If you need the phone lights while keyguard is on, press the Power key to quickly switch 
the lights on for 15 seconds.
Connecting your phone to a car kit automatically disables keyguard.
Automatic keyguard
You can set the keypad of your phone to lock automatically after a preset time delay (from 
10 seconds to 60 minutes). When the preset delay expires, if the phone is at the start screen, 
the keypad locks automatically. Automatic keyguard works only if the phone is at the 
 
start screen.

From the menus, select Settings > Phone settings > Keyguard settings > Automatic 
keyguard >
 On or Off

If you selected On, at the Set delay prompt, enter the delay (in mm:ss format), and 
select OK.
When the keyguard is on, calls still may be possible to the official emergency number 
programmed into your phone. Enter the emergency number, and press the Talk key.
 • SELECT SILENT PROFILE
If you do not want the phone to disturb others, you can select the profile in which the 
ringing tone and all other tones are silenced.

At the start screen, quickly press and release the Power key.

Scroll to Silent and select Select.
 • IN-PHONE HELP
Many menu items have brief help text. To view the help text, scroll to the menu item and 
wait for about 15 seconds. Select More or press the Scroll down key to continue reading 
the text. Select Back to exit, or wait a few seconds to return to the current menu.
